Festive homemade pear liqueur
I love making things from scratch. In high school, I had a friend who’s brother made homemade liqueur. I found it fascinating. With Christmas right around the corner, this Aromatic Pear Liqueur will make the perfect adult foodie gift. It’s delicious served ice cold or topped up with sparkling water. Making homemade liqueur is just another day in my life as a private chef. Having the opportunity to experiment gives me great pleasure as a chef. Pushing and exploring my creativity is fantastic.
I found the process pleasantly simply. When I did a taste test roughly three weeks after having added the sugar I knew that this was going to be fantastic. I have a bottle which is just over eight months old and it has developed wonderful smooth, mellow flavors.
Aromatic Pear Liqueur
Make your own Pear Liqueur just in time for Christmas. It makes fabulous grown-up gifts!

Using a toothpick or a small wooden skewer prick the pears all over.
Place the pears, vanilla pod, cinnamon, and orange peel into the sterilized jar. Pour in the vodka to fill the jar.
Close the jar tightly and place in a sunny spot.
Two weeks later add the sugar. Close the jar and shakes gently to mix the sugar. Do this daily for at least one week to make sure the sugar dissolves.
